This recipe is derived from Baihu Tang. The syndrome of Baihu Decoction is the excess of positive and evil, while the syndrome of this prescription is that the great heat has declined, the residual heat has not been cleared, and both Qi and body fluids have been damaged. In the prescription, bamboo leaves and gypsum are used to clear away heat and relieve troubles and dispel heat evil; ginseng and Ophiopogon japonicus are used to replenish qi and promote fluid production to replenish deficiencies; pinellia and ternata are used to relieve vomiting. Although their properties are warm, they will be warm and dry when combined with medicines that clear away heat and promote fluid production. It can remove the nature and reduce adverse effects, and can transfer body fluids, restore spleen movement, relieve stagnation of ginseng and Ophiopogon japonicus, and harmonize stomach qi; licorice and japonica rice can also regulate stomach qi. The combined use of various medicines can not only clear away the remaining heat, but also replenish the depleted Qi and Yin, taking into account both evil and positive factors, making it a clearing and tonic agent.
